Predoctoral graduate students participate in the Medical Imaging Affiliated Scholars program by attending the MITP Visionary Speaker seminars and participating in the MITP’s annual Imaging Technology Fair. Affiliated Scholars also receive priority to take courses that are designed specifically for the Medical Imaging Training Program.
Note that all imaging trainees (Affiliated Scholars and Fellows) are subject to the degree requirements of Duke University, their home department, and the Medical Imaging Training Program. Individual students, their advisors, and their graduate committee choose a custom curriculum reflecting that student's background and research and career aspirations. Affiliated Scholars must also:
- Attend at least 75% of the Medical Imaging Visionary Speaker lectures scheduled throughout the year.
- Participate in the annual Duke Medical Imaging Technology poster session and workshop.
- Maintain good academic standing.
Affiliated Scholars are also strongly encouraged, but not required, to complete and submit an Individual Development Plan and to meet with the MITP Director annually to discuss their progress in research and career goals.
